I AM JOHNNY at Summerhall

I AM JOHNNY is the debut solo theatre show from acclaimed actor and theatremaker Tessa Parr, who creates and performs the character of Johnny the Biblical Rapper, a white male 30-something poet-manchild navigating the world from a place of vulnerability. The show is a comedic, absurd, and politically sharp interrogation of gender, class, vulnerability, and fragile power dynamics, blending surreal humour and piercing insight. Strikingly timely in light of the widening class divide and evolving discourse around troubled masculinity, the piece offers a nuanced, female-led exploration of emotional exposure and the quiet expectations beneath honesty. The show runs at 18:15 for 60 minutes, with performances 6–31 August (not 17, 24).
