JITTERS to Make Edinburgh Fringe Debut With Ellen Robertson and Charly Clive
The two-hander, written by Robertson and directed by Emily Burns, will play at the Edinburgh Fringe.
JITTERS, a new two-hander written by Ellen Robertson, will premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Set on the morning of a wedding, the play follows Charlotte, who is preparing to marry a man in his sixties, and El, his daughter, who is the same age as her future stepmother. As the two women meet for the first time, what begins as awkward conversation develops into a confrontation that examines grief, motherhood, money, beauty, privilege, and the choices people make to build a life for themselves.
The play marks Robertson's return to playwriting following the debut of her first play at the Watermill Theatre in 2017. Best known alongside Charly Clive as the comedy duo Britney, the pair first gained attention with their 2016 Edinburgh Fringe show and have since developed film and television projects with Gloria Sanchez, Two Brothers, Linden Entertainment, Funny or Die, and Netflix.
Robertson's credits include Mickey 17, The Pale Horse, and Vladimir. Clive's screen and stage work includes Pure, The Lazarus Project, and Rooster.
JITTERS also marks a new chapter for Robertson and Clive as their first theatrical production as a performing duo. The play explores the tensions and unexpected connections that emerge when two women with very different perspectives find themselves confronting one another just moments before a wedding.
The production will be directed by Emily Burns, who previously directed Robertson and Clive's debut Fringe production in 2016. Burns' credits include The Comeback in the West End, Dear Octopus at The National Theatre, Measure for Measure for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and The Stage 25.
