For the ladies are certain they could never be happy married to a man who was named something other than Earnest. The Importance of Being Earnest plays August 15 - 24 in Santa Marias Marian Theatre and August 29 September 8 in the Solvang Festival Theater.The Importance of Being Earnest is a frothy comedy of manners and guarantees to be a delightful evening in the theatre. Wilde writes really terrific characters. Each one is vivid in their point of view and the way they use language. For a class of people who dont have many worries, they get to play - and they play with language. Its the idea of language as a playground, Director Roger DeLaurier explained.The characters have their foibles and theyre certainly self-interested, but they have a wonderful life-force. At its heart, Wilde is making fun of the society of which he was a part. He ridicules the hypocrisy of the class system and of the upper-middle classes, their ideas on morality, marriage, and gender relationships.

Book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Music and Lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, Conceived by Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick. SOMETHING ROTTEN! will run July 6-23, 2022 in the Garvin Theatre and will be directed by Katie Laris, musical direction by David Potter and choreography by Christina McCarthy.
Resident Artist Emily Trask Welcomes New Literary Duties
September 26, 2019Pacific Conservatory Theatre Resident Artist Emily Trask takes on an additional role as Literary Associate and Hurlbert Fellow. Trask joined PCPA in 2018 and has appeared in recent productions of Peter Pan, Shakespeare in Love, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and The Importance of Being Earnest, and teaches Shakespeare I and Actor's Lab in PCPA's Conservatory.
