'Launch Pad' Series Previews UNTITLED IV BY RUTH MARKOFSKY at UC Santa Barbara, Now thru 3/8

By: Feb. 27, 2014

A preview production of UNTITLED IV BY RUTH MARKOFSKY is set for the UC Santa Barbara, Dept. of Theater and Dance. Written by Alison Tatlock, the show will be directed by Risa Brainin.

ABOUT: Untitled IV by Ruth Markofsky is about place and family - the kind we're born into, and the kind that we build, sometimes haphazardly. At the center of the story is Ruth, a Boston native, who settled in Joshua Tree, CA to make a life for herself and her young son, adopted from Ethiopia. A well-known artist struggling with a big loss, Ruth gathers an eclectic group of characters around her as she reveals her new work and her old wounds. The play is both sad and funny, as the characters argue about addiction, death, motherhood and violence - and if it's really bad to put plastic in the dishwasher.

The creative team also features: Set, Nayna Ramey; Costumes, Devon Painter; Lighting, Michael Klaers; and Sound/Composer, Randy Tico.

Starring: Anne Torsiglieri, Victoria Finlayson, Adrian Carter, Zackery Humphreys, Tonea Lolin and Skarlett Redd.

The show runs today, Feb. 27 - March 8, 2014, playing Thursday - Saturday, @ 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2 @ 2 p.m. at the Hatlen Theater, UCSB Campus, Ocean Road (Park in Lot 22 or 23), Santa Barbara, CA 93106.
