Spreckels takes audiences to Italy's Tuscan countryside for this sophisticated musical based on the 1950s novella by Elizabeth Spencer. A wealthy Southern American woman and her developmentally challenged daughter, Clara, spend a summer together in Italy. When Clara falls in love with a dashing young Italian man, her mother is forced to reconsider Clara's future and her own hopes and regrets.
