He was Judy Garland's good friend and Liza Minnelli's first husband -- but, first and foremost, singer-songwriter Peter Allen was a performer. The Boy From Oz is the spectacular musical based on his life, from small-town Australia to the bright lights of New York City. The story follows Allen as he meets Garland in a Hong Kong bar, then follows her to New York and marries her daughter, despite concerns about his sexuality. What follows is a tale of humor, heartbreak, self-discovery, forgiveness and love, all told using Allen's own songs, including "I Honestly Love You" and "I Go to Rio." The Boy From Oz played to more than a million people in Allen's home country before debuting on Broadway in 2003 with Hugh Jackman in the lead role. Now you can experience the Bay Area premiere of the unforgettable musical at The Great Star Theatre in San Francisco.
