SF Symphony Collaborative Partner and classical singer Julia Bullock joins Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Orchestra for a program that sings the American story in works by George Gershwin and Margaret Bonds. Reena Esmail’s Black Iris takes its title from the eponymous Georgia O'Keeffe painting and grapples with the recent #metoo movement. The program closes with Maurice Ravel’s ravishing "Daphnis et Chloé", telling the story of two lovers and their wildly adventurous lives.
