The Ultra Showgirls Return to San Francisco 1/26

By:

After it's recent sold out run in San Francisco, the cult hit drag rock musical comedy Above and Beyond the Valley of the Ultra Showgirls returns for a command performance at Oasis, as part of the 16th annual SF Sketchfest. Written & Directed by D'Arcy Drollinger (Shit & Champagne, Disastrous!, Mr. Irresistible), Ultra Showgirls opens January 26th with a mini-stadium rock spectacular, complete with a five piece live band.

Fame, sex, gratuitous nudity, drug addiction, prostitution, live go-go girls, rock-n-roll, cat fights, murder, seduction, betrayal... and that's just in the dressing room. Imagine Russ Meyer, Liberace and Charles Manson collaborating on a rock musical starring "Jem and the Holograms" and you have an idea of what awaits you in Above and Beyond the Valley of the Ultra Showgirls. Shamelessly inspired by "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" and "Showgirls", this over-the-top dark musical comedy has enough poor taste references to keep any B-movie junky erect.

The story follows SUPER VIXEN - a struggling all-girl rock band with big dreams, big boobs, big hair and big everything else. Chablis, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer claw their way up the underside of the music industry where they meet low life record company exec Mr. Richard Face, who promises them super-stardom. When Dick talks Gewürztraminer into leaving her band mates, she changes her name to Sherry, hooks up with even trashier back up girls and becomes an overnight sensation. Naturally, her rejected friends embark on a painful and hilarious downward spiral of sex, drugs... and revenge!

Starring D'Arcy Drollinger (Shit & Champagne, The Rocky Horror Show, Sex and the City Live!), John Paul Gonzalez (City of Angels, Pageant), Nancy French (Shit & Champagne, Disastrous!), Jane D'oh (Baloney), Bobby Barnaby (Barnaby's Babes, Red Hots Burlesque), Manuel Caneri (Golden Girls, Addams Family Values), Lavale-William Davis (Spelling Bee) and Melinda Campero (Heather's The Musical, The Rocky Horror Show). The show features all original songs, along with a live 5-piece band - Steve Bolinger (keyboards), Peter Fogel (guitar), Christian Matthews (drums), Tim Perdue (bass) & Julie Vl?ek-Burke (Trumpet).

Book, Music, and Lyrics by D'Arcy Drollinger.
Additional music by Tim Perdue, Christian Matthews, Carolyn Engelmann, Julie Vlcek, Steve Bollinger and Peter Fogel

Directed by D'Arcy Drollinger
