This World Premiere Comedy about art and ambition pits a father's aspirations and a daughter's dreams against one another – in this new play about family, politics, opera and understanding. Written by Jennifer W. Roland and directed by Julia Fletcher, this is the third show of their 25th season.

JENNIFER W. ROWLAND's (playwright) other plays include ANYONE ELSE BUT ME, ONE GOOD DEATH, THE SCHOOL PLAYS, GOLF SHOP ROMANCE, THE CONTEST and ICE GIRL IN BUNGALOW B. THE CONTEST was first produced in the PRT Co-Op before going on to subsequent productions at the Powerhouse Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone Theater, which produces community based theater with underserved groups.

JULIA FLETCHER (director) was the Founding Artistic Director of PRT, directing and/or acting in many of the plays in its first five seasons. She has spent most of her life in the theater, having been a child actor, a production assistant, a stage manager, and a dramaturge. She is also a successful regional theatre actress and voice artist for video games, anime, and audio books.
