Producer Jo Schuman Silver, The Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon - the world's longest running musical revue - are proud to announce the 2015 Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts" program. Created in 2002 as part of its commitment to the arts, the "Scholarship for the Arts" program has grown into an annual event eagerly anticipated by San Francisco Bay Area high schools and the community.

"I created the 'Scholarship for the Arts' program in honor of my late husband, Steve Silver," said Schuman Silver. "Steve was passionate about arts and education and through this scholarship we continue his vision by encouraging young artists to pursue their dreams."

Last year's program proved, once again, to be extremely successful, with Beach Blanket Babylon receiving a record number of submissions. JP Viernes (Dance) from Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Annabel Hope (Acting) from Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts and Marisol De Anda (Voice) from Skyline High School each walked away with $10,000 towards their college education.

High school seniors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are asked to submit a completed entry form along with a three-minute performance in one of three categories: singing, acting or dancing. Nine finalists - three from each category - will be selected by a panel of performing arts professionals and notified on Monday, May 4, 2015 and will perform their three-minute piece live at Club Fugazi (home of Beach Blanket Babylon) on Monday, June 1, 2015 in front of a panel of celebrity judges and an invited audience made up of their family and friends. One winner from each category will be presented with a $10,000 check from The Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon toward their higher education. The "Scholarship for the Arts" is based entirely on talent; grades and financial needs are not factors. All entries must be postmarked or uploaded by 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon has a long-standing commitment to philanthropic efforts in the community and has been involved with numerous charities including the UCSF Cancer Center, Legal Community Against Violence, Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Child Abuse Prevention Society and AIDS Memorial Grove.
