It's alive! Mel Brooks' hilarious 1974 film "Young Frankenstein" lives on as a Broadway musical with everyone's favorite classic lines, sight gags and zany characters - including Dr. Frederick Frankenstein; sidekick Igor; the vacant but voluptuous assistant Inga; sex driven fiancée Elizabeth; mysterious mastermind Frau Blücher; and of course the monster.
It's Mel Brooks' bawdy, silly send-up of the classic horror films of the 1930's which follows a young American doctor from New York City to Transylvania with the intension of settling his grandfather's estate. Instead, he ends up making a monster. This Broadway version gives "Young Frankenstein" a renewed life with music, laughs and fun for all ages.
This Spreckels Theatre Company production features the new Paradyne projection system, developed by Spreckels Performing Arts Center, combining still images and animations to create multiple backdrop effects.
