ShowBusiness Documentary Opens in SF & Berkeley June 8
Dori Berinstein's acclaimed documentary ShowBusiness: The Road To Broadway will open at Berkeley's Landmark Shattuck Cinemas and at San Francisco's Embarcadero Center Theatre on June 8.
"Direct from being named one of the Top 5 Documentary Films of 2006 by the International Documentary Association comes this landmark film tracing the historic Broadway season featuring Avenue Q, Taboo, Wicked and Caroline, or Change. From casting to staging, from previews to red carpet opening nights, from the announcement of Tony nominations to the suspense filled Tony Awards, ShowBusiness provides a never-before-seen look at the inner workings of Broadway musicals," state press materials. The film features Alan Cumming, Rosie O'Donnell, Boy George, Tony Kushner, idina menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Jeff Marx, Bobby Lopez, Jeanine Tesori, Euan Morton, Raul Esparza, Tonya Pinkins and others. The film, which was named one of the top 5 documentary features of 2006 by the International Documentary Association, has had a spectacular launch in New York and is now rolling out across the country. ShowBusiness premieres in Los Angeles June 1; in New York June 6; and in Rochester, Boston, and Chicago June 8. Upcoming engagements include Minneapolis, Atlanta, San Diego, Seattle, D.C., St. Louis, and more to be announced.
