San Francisco's "Spelling Bee," which began performances early February, is an open-ended engagement currently playing at the Post Street Theatre. The musical follows the life of "six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser."
The San Francisco Chronicle calls it "smart, hilariously funny and unexpectedly moving. Long may it run!" The Oakland Tribune raves it as "utterly fantastic. Smart, raucously funny and adorable without being sappy. You most definitely want to 'BEE' part of this!" And The San Jose Mercury News writes "a hip and sweet treat. A hit from A to Z!"
The San Francisco "Spelling Bee" stars Aaron J. Albano (Chip Tolentino), Stanley Bahorek (Leaf Coneybear), Jenni Barber (Olive Ostrovsky), Jim Cashman (Douglas Panch), Jared Gertner (William Barfee), James Monroe Iglehart (Mitch Mahoney), Sara Inbar (Logainne Schwartandgrubenierre), Greta Lee (Marcy Park), Betsy Wolfe/>/> (Rona Lisa Peretti).
San Francisco's "Spelling Bee" has performances Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm; and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets range from $40 to $66. The Post Street Theatre is located at 450 Post Street, San Francisco just three blocks from Union Square.
