Oakland Actor Receives $10,000 RHE Artistic Fellowship

By:

Busy on stages throughout the region, Sarah Moser has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the RHE Artistic Fellowship, a program of Theatre Bay Area in partnership with the RHE Foundation. Moser will receive $10,000 and a year-long mentorship to help her achieve her career goals.

The purpose of the RHE Artistic Fellowship is to make a significant investment in an individual artist that allows for learning and experimentation, and enables them to focus on specific areas of learning they otherwise might not have the opportunity to explore. The scope of the award is designed to have a substantial impact on the trajectory of the artist's career.

"I am unbelievably humbled by this opportunity to continue to train and develop my voice, body, and imagination. It is so rare to have the support and resources to face artistic roadblocks and to grow. I'm also deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore how the body holds trauma for actors and non-actors alike. I'm so excited for this year of hard work and growth," said Moser after learning of her selection.

Sarah has been acting in the region since 2008 and has been seen at Just Theater, Shotgun Players, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Magic Theatre, California Shakespeare Theater, Tides Theatre, City Lights Theater, Palo Alto Players, and many more. She has a B.A. from Stanford University and has trained at Studio A.C.T., Waterfront Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was a 2014 recipient of Theatre Bay Area's Titan Award, which recognizes and supports outstanding work of theatre artists.

Four judges made the selection based on applicants' body of work and written plans. They are: Just Theater artistic director Jonathan Spector; TheatreWorks associate artistic director Leslie Martinson; local actor and instructor Bruce Williams and Jennifer Heyneman Sousae, MFT, of the RHE Charitable Foundation.

Finalists for the RHE Artistic Fellowship are Roselyn Hallet, Cindy Im, and Kathryn Zdan.

The award will be presented to Moser during the Theatre Bay Area Annual Conference on April 13, at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Information on the conference can be found at http://www.theatrebayarea.org/?AnnualConference.
