Marlo Thomas Stars in May's Moving Right Along in SF
Emmy Award-winner Marlo Thomas, a theatre veteran well-known for her work on the series "That Girl," will headline the cast of Moving Right Along, which will be presented in its world premiere from October 21st through November 19th at San Francisco's Magic Theatre.
Moving Right Along is an evening of short plays by Elaine May (After the Night and the Music, screenplays of Primary Colors and Heaven Can Wait) and Jan Mirochek; it will be directed by May and daughter Jeannie Berlin. In addition to Thomas, the cast will feature Mark Rydell, Wanda McCaddon, Julia Brothers, and Daveed Diggs.
The show is described on the Magic Theatre website as "Three short comedies about life and death. A misunderstood playwright in need of a hit, a limousine driver with a passion for salsa and a pampered socialite widow are at the heart in this delicious collection of smart one-acts."
Thomas has won Emmys for "Free to Be...You & Me," "Nobody's Child" and "Free to Be...A Family;" she has been nominated for five others. The actress, who played Ann Marie on "That Girl," has appeared on Broadway in The Shadow Box, Social Security and Thieves, and Off-Broadway in The Exonerated, The Vagina Monologues and The Guys. Free to Be...You and Me, which she wrote, played Off-Broadway in 2002.
Moving Right Along will perform Previews: Oct. 21 at 8:30PM, Oct. 22 at 2:30PM, and Oct. 24 27 at 8:30PM. Opening Night is Oct. 28 at 8:30PM, and will continue to run until November 19, Tuesdays Saturdays at 8:30PM and Sundays at 2:30PM.
