Enrollment is now open for Marin Theatre Company's 2013 Summer Theater Camp for students entering grades 1-12 in the fall of 2013. The three-week full-day camp features morning training sessions with professional theater artists and afternoon rehearsals that culminate in three fully staged performances of either the musical Disney's Aladdin or an original adaptation of Arabian Nights. The camp runs 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, July 8-25, 2013, at Marin Horizon School, 305 Montford Ave, Mill Valley, with performances July 26-28 at MTC, 397 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley.

Campers will be divided into groups by age. Groups A (grades 1-2) and B (grades 3-4) will rehearse and perform Disney's Aladdin Kids, and groups C (grades 5-6) and D (grades 7 and up) will rehearse and perform Disney's Aladdin Jr. These 30 and 60-minute musicals are stage adaptations of the 1992 Disney animated film. Group E (grades 7-12) will rehearse and perform an original adaptation of the Islamic Golden Age collection of Persian, Arabian and Indian folk tales Arabian Nights. Final performances are fully produced with costumes, lights and sets. Each group also takes developmental specific classes with professional theater artists in improvisation, clowning, costume design and crafts, singing, dance and movement, voice and text, Shakespeare, stage combat, playwriting and directing.

A popular summer program, MTC's Summer Theater Camp regularly receives praise from participants - "This was the best experience of my life!" "This is the best camp ever!" - and parents - "My child loved the whole experience. It is such a positive theater camp. The productions are always impressive."
