Los Altos Stage Company Presents CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, Now thru 2/16

By:

The Los Altos Stage Company proudly presents a steamy, southern tale of greed, mendacity, sexual desire, repression, death and decay. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams opens tonight, January 23 and runs through February 16 at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.

Widely acknowledged as the playwright's personal favorite, this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama set in the Mississippi Delta tells the story of Brick Pollitt, an aging and alcoholic former football hero, his vivacious wife Maggie, and their struggle to navigate their rocky relationship. On a hot summer evening, while the entire Pollitt clan gathers to celebrate the 65th birthday of Brick's father, Big Daddy, the fragile veneer of Southern Gentility strips away as unpleasant truths come to bear.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is directed by Dawn Monique Williams, the 2013 Phil Killian Directing Fellow at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Los Altos Stage Company's production features a non-traditional, multi-ethnic cast of Bus Barn Theater veterans, as well as a few new faces, including:

Patricia Pitpitan................Margaret

Robert Campbell..............Brick

John Baldwin...................Big Daddy

Sheila Ellam.....................Big Mama

FrEd Pitts........................Gooper

Hannah Larson................Mae

Jim Johnson....................Reverend Tooker

The Los Altos Stage Company (formerly the Bus Barn Stage Company) is a quintessential American neighborhood playhouse, serving Los Altos and the greater South Bay area, and paying tribute to the full cannon of American musicals, comedies, and dramas. This 18-year-old theater company strives to bring together a diversity of theater enthusiasts, practitioners, and supporters to create, explore and celebrate the rich tapestry of American culture and experience through live theater.
