Kelly Ground has been confirmed to appear as "Lady Blues" in theater Q's 25th Anniversary Production of Torch Song Trilogy at the Dean Lesher Center in Walnut Creek, CA. The Harvey Fierstein-written show, which also stars Tomas Theriot (Arnold), Caleb Hoffert (Ed), Amanda Mitchell (Laurel), Matthew Lowe (Alan), Vincent Palo (David) and Anne Hallinan (Ma), opens May 3rd.

Ground, who originated the role of Fantine in the National Tour of Les Miserables at the Curran theatre in San Francisco (and for which she won the San Francisco Chronicle's "Best Performance,") recently performed on the acclaimed recording of Simply Sondheim: a 75th Birthday Salute. Ground will also be reprising her role of Trudy Daniels in a concert performance of Homeland, by Jay Kuo, in June. In Torch Song Trilogy, she will be singing songs such as "He's a Tramp," "My Funny Valentine," "What Are You Doing The Rest of Your Life," "Straighten Up and Fly Right," and others.

Press notes state, "Torch Song Trilogy, the universal story of love, loss and eyelashes, opened off-Broadway in 1982 and quickly became the first commercially successful play to openly feature homosexuality as both as a theme and in its star/author. theatre Q pays tribute to the landmark play that went on to win Tonys for both best play and best actor in this, the 25th anniversary of its Broadway debut."

Torch Song Trilogy, Theatre Q's tenth performance since starting Bay Area programming in 2004, is directed by Dale Albright, and plays at the Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts, Knight Stage, May 3- May 19, 2007, Thursdays – Saturdays at 8:15pm, Sundays at 2:15pm. The Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts is at 1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek. Tickets are $25, and $23 for senior/youth (Parents take note: the play contains adult language).
