The international comedy hit Defending the Caveman returns to San Francisco for a limited two-week engagement, April 16-27, at the Marines Memorial Theatre in San Francisco. Defending the Caveman, the longest running solo play in Broadway history, is written by Bay Area native Rob Becker and will star actor Isaac Lamb as the Caveman. For tickets (on sale March 17) and information, the public may call the Marines Memorial Theatre box office (609 Sutter St., San Francisco) at 415-771-6900, visit any Ticketmaster outlet, or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.

"Celebrating the inherent differences between men and women, Defending the Caveman, takes a prehistoric look at the battle of the sexes, exploring all the ways that men and women fight, laugh, and love. Written by Bay Area comedian Rob Becker, Defending the Caveman originally opened in San Francisco in 1991 and played to sold-out crowds around the United States before opening on Broadway in 1995. Running for 702 performances, Defending the Caveman played for two and a half years on Broadway, making it the longest running solo play in Broadway's history; this blockbuster comedy is now a worldwide hit with productions in 30 countries, including Canada, South Africa, Iceland, Sweden, and Germany, and has been translated into more than 15 different languages," describe press notes.

Defending the Caveman star Isaac Lamb was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Highlights of his theatrical career include Willy Russell's musical Blood Brothers and teaching and directing with the Young People's Theatre Project. As a member of the Sinatra Opera Workshop, a group sponsored by the Frank Sinatra estate to further education in operatic training, Lamb has appeared in productions of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro and Cosi Fan Tutte. He is also a member of The Meh-tropolis Ballet Theatre's Character Ensemble in Los Angeles and the Kohl Players, with whom he appeared in the original one-act play One Sunday in Mississippi, written by Linda Bannister and James Hurd.

With a background in stand-up comedy, Rob Becker wrote Defending the Caveman over a 3-year period during which he made an informal study of anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology and mythology. He currently resides in a small town in Northern California with his wife and their three children.

Defending the Caveman opens Wednesday, April 16 at 8PM with performances through Sunday, April 27, 2008. Show times are Wednesdays-Fridays at 8PM; Saturdays at 3PM & 8PM; and Sundays at 3PM & 7PM
