Broadway by the Bay, the north and mid-Peninsula's largest performing arts organization, continues its 42nd year of presenting full-scale musicals with Disney's Beauty and the Beast with performances from July 12 - 29 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.

"This long-running Broadway spectacular features the celebrated score of Oscar-winning team Alan Menken (music) and Howard Ashman (lyrics) with additional lyrics by Tony Award-winner Tim Rice," states press notes, "Adapted for the stage from the original Academy Award-winning animated film, Disney's Beauty and the Beast is a musical fairy tale in which Belle visits an enchanted castle, where a living candlestick, clock, teapot, crockery and other animated objects help her see the inner beauty in a Beast, trapped under a cruel spell only she can break."

Performances begin Thursday, July 12 (press night Saturday, July 14) through July 29, 2007.  Show times are Thursday - Saturday at 8PM and Sundays at 2PM.  Plus Special Family Matinees Saturday, July 21 and Saturday, July 28 at 2PM.

Broadway by the Bay performs at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center located at 600 N. Delaware, San Mateo.
