Universal Spirit Center presents The Laramie Project and its sequel, The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, in repertory performances running April 24 through May 3. The production is directed by Julian Diaz and features Reverend Kevin Bucy, spiritual leader of Universal Spirit Center, in five roles across the two plays. The works explore themes of intolerance, bigotry, belonging, and hope, drawing on the legacy of Matthew Shepard to examine what communities have and have not learned from confronting division. The ensemble previously received the Dennis and Judy Shepard Family Values Award and mayoral recognition from the City of San Diego for their earlier production of the play.
