The Old Globe presents the Powers New Voices Festival, showcasing new American play readings from January 10 to 12, 2025. One of the highlights is a rendition of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, adapted by Marco Antonio Rodriguez from Junot Díaz's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. It features Oscar, a Dominican college freshman, who seeks romance despite the curse that looms over his family, navigating the complexities of love with encouragement from his roommate Yunior. The festival also includes other fresh works and short plays promoting community voices from local playwrights.
