The San Diego premiere of an enthralling and funny new work by Kate Douglas, THE APIARY is a funny and thrilling story set in a synthetic honeybee laboratory twenty years in the future. THE APIARY follows four women tasked with keeping the last surviving colonies alive until a shocking discovery inside the hive turns their work, their loyalties, and their futures upside down. The New York Times named it a Critic’s Pick calling it a “bright, strange and mesmerizing marvel”.
North Coast Repertory Theatre will present Beau Jest, James Sherman's delightful Jewish-American story that weaves together vibrant traditions, sizzling chemistry, and joyous celebrations into a warm-hearted theatrical treat.
I’ve watched (and loved) enough sci-fi movies to know that any animals kept in a lab eventually come for the humans. Monkeys. Sharks. Dinosaurs. So you can’t blame me for being deeply suspicious of the bees in the lab in 'The Apiary” now playing at New Village Arts through February 22, 2026.
New Village Arts will bring an exciting new work to its stage in 2026 with the San Diego regional premiere of The Apiary, a play written by Kate Douglas.
