Sueños: Our American Musical features book, music, and lyrics by Jesse Sanchez, additional music and orchestrations by Jeff Chambers, directed by Lisa Portes, with music direction by Bruce De La Cruz and dramaturgy by Jade Power Sotomayor. Set in the summer of 1999, the story follows the Viramontes family as they leave Los Angeles for the agricultural town of Watsonville, California, centering on Ali Viramontes, a gifted young violinist and composer whose dream of attending Juilliard is tested by financial hardship and personal tensions. The piece is presented as a full-length musical concert reading at the 2026 LTC Carnaval of New Latinx Musicals.
