Teatro Salon Stages New Works by San Antonio Playwrights and Teatristas

Now in its fifth installment, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center is proud to present the 2018 edition of Teatro Salon: A Showcase of New Workswhich will present three solo performances and three ensemble pieces with a special youth night performance. Audiences will enjoy three evenings of Teatro as well as post-show discussions with the artists involved. The 3-day showcase is curated by Tex-Mex writer and teatrista Marisela Barrera.

"Teatro is play-making with conciencia: theatrical performance aware of and connected to its community," says Barrera. "Not all plays written or directed by Latinos are teatro. The messages over these two nights of teatro resonate cross-culturally because teatro is American theater. The first night is 'Puro Solos' demonstrating the depth of solo performance in San Antonio. The second night is 'Teatro del Pueblo' showcasing local stories adapted for the stage. Both nights feature local teatristas creating compelling performance you do not want to miss."
