The Woodlawn Theatre anxiously readies itself to debut this award-winning, highly energetic show that the Pulitzer Board called "a powerful rock musical"!

Directed by Woodlawn's own Artistic Director Greg Hinojosa, winner of multiple ATAC Awards, 'Next to Normal' features a groundbreaking, electrifying pop-rock score of more than 30 songs and focuses on a significant topic - the struggle to overcome mental illness. Starring Beth Erwin as Diana Goodman (a bi-polar schizophrenic mother), Josh Harris as Dan Goodman (her long-suffering husband), and featuring Conley Wehner (Natalie), Matthew Lieber (Gabe), Ben Carlee (Henry), and Robby Vance (Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine), the show explores how one suburban family copes with crisis, and paints an authentic and thought provoking picture of an important situation in an entirely new and fresh way.

Woodlawn Theatre is proud to produce such a stellar musical with this amazing cast! The Woodlawn is also excited to use this opportunity to reach out into its community and increase public awareness of such mental health concerns and family struggles. No doubt this show will evoke some strong emotions and tug at its audiences' heartstrings, but it's sure to leave a sense of hope and understanding in the very souls of all whom experience it.

Opening June 29th, the show will run Friday and Saturday evenings with Sunday matinees through July 29th. Check out the Woodlawn's website for ticket information. You won't want to miss a show that The Washington Post said is: "an astonishing feat! With originality, ingenuity, and sock-it-to 'em emotionality."
