Charles Gounod's Roméo et Juliette brings Shakespeare's timeless tragedy to life through the sweeping orchestral and theatrical language of French Romantic opera, as the two young lovers fall irrevocably for one another only to discover they belong to rival families. Tenor Patrick Bessenbacher sings the role of Roméo opposite soprano Nicole Heinen in her role debut as Juliette, with baritone Jake Stamatis as Mercutio and bass-baritone Kevin Spooner as Frère Laurent. The production features a twelve-voice chorus, a forty-player orchestra, and ballet dancers, conducted by Benjamin Beckman and directed by Lisl Wangermann. This marks Park City Opera's debut at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.
