The B Street Theatre, Sacramento's Resident Professional, New Works Theatre, has announced its summer play selections for the Mainstage & B3 Series, featuring Seminar by Theresa Rebeck and Red by John Logan. See full details below!

MAINSTAGE:

Seminar by Theresa Rebeck
Regional Premiere

In Seminar, a provocative comedy from Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck, four aspiring young novelists sign up for private writing classes with Leonard, an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. The wordplay is not the only thing that turns vicious as innocence collides with experience in this saucy comedy.

Committed to providing the Sacramento community with the most recent works, B Street Theatre is proud to produce Seminar, coming directly off its run on Broadway. Seminar is the second show of B Street's 2012-2013 Mainstage Season.

B3 SERIES:

Red by John Logan

Red, winner of the 2010 Tony Award for Best New Play, portrays the dynamic relationship between an artist and his creations. A raw and provocative portrait of Mark Rothko, master abstract expressionist, whose artistic ambition and vulnerability clash as he tries to create a definitive work for a historical mural commission in the extraordinary setting of the Four Seasons in New York.

B Street Theatre is pleased to be bringing in Brian Dykstra and David McElwee from New York to reprise their roles as Rothko and Ken respectively. Dykstra was nominated for the Kevin Kleine award for his portrayal of Rothko at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.
