ENRON, MISTAKES WERE MADE and More Highlight Capital Stage's 2012-2013 Season

In the midst of a ground-breaking and record-breaking season at its new midtown home, Capital Stage announces an ambitious line-up of titles for its 2012-2013 season.

"This year has been a tremendously challenging and rewarding one for us. We opened our new venue just in time for the opening of the first show of our season last October and since then we've been busy learning to run our new facility and managing significant growth at the box office," said Producing Director, JoNathan Williams.

The company's new season which was just announced to Capital Stage subscribers at a private event last Friday, represents some of the most imaginative and celebrated new plays from the Contemporary Theatre. "We're calling 2012-13 the season of the 'Power Plays'," said Gularte, "All of these plays are unique and distinct but each in one way or another examines themes of power. As our country enters a bitter election year what better time to reflect on the role that power plays in our lives."

ENRON by Lucy Prebble

September 19-October 21, 2012 (Opening Night September 22) Sacramento Premiere

In sold-out sensation during its London world premiere, Enron turns one of the most infamous scandals in financial history into an explosive theatrical event. Crafted as sprawling tragedy mixed with savage comedy, Enron follows a group of ambitious men and women through the breathtaking rush of greed and fraud that led to a legendary financial collapse.

MISTAKES WERE MADE by Craig Wright

November 14-December 16, 2012 (Opening Night November 17) Sacramento Premiere

In Mistakes Were Made we meet B-list Off-Broadway producer Felix Artifex who gets in way over his fast-talking head when he takes on Mistakes Were Made, the first world-premiere of his long and checkered career. Mistakes is a gargantuan epic of the French Revolution which Felix thinks is going to be his ticket to professional and personal redemption.

March 20 - April 21, 2013 (Opening Night March 23) Sacramento Premiere

In a breathtaking journey beyond realism, this provocative London/Broadway hit imagines the night before the tragedy, dramatizing a legend while revealing the flesh-and-blood man behind it.

HEDDA GABLER by Henrik Ibsen

May 15 - June 16, 2013 (Opening Night May 18)

In March, Capital Stage will present an original adaptation of one of the world's most famous plays. Based on premise that there is a secret, sometimes unconscious, world of desires and motives that is often much more powerful than the rational one, Ibsen's theatrical masterpiece explores Hedda's tormented desire for escape and her yearning for individual and spiritual freedom.
