Smart, witty, and deeply moving, this beautiful play won the Tony Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Drama Desk Award. Set in a State School for the Deaf, Children of a Lesser God chronicles the love story between an intelligent, yet bitter young deaf woman and the energetic, unconventional and devoted speech pathologist who wants to teach her to speak. This play explores several key issues facing the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community as well as highlighting the universal need for love and connection and the struggle to be heard and understood.
