On July 24, the Hudson Stage Company of Croton on Hudson, New York, will host its annual gala fundraiser, 'Divas on Hudson.'  The event will be hosted on a Hudson River property in Montrose. It will be tented rain or shine and will have seating available, in addition to expansive grounds for picnicking. The evening will feature a sunset concert with Broadway singers, a silent auction, wine and cheese, dessert, coffee and the view. Performers at past events have included Audra McDonald, Ann Hampton Callaway, Lauren Kennedy, Liz Callaway, Barbara Walsh, and Shoshana Bean.

For the company's season finale, Croton Free Library will host the annual return of Hudson Stage Company to its original home with a free staged reading of DIVIDING ASHES by New Dramatists' Resident Playwright Chiori Miyagawa, directed by Erica Gould.  The reading will take place on Friday, June 4 at 7:30pm.  A question and answer session with the playwright and all participating artists will follow.  In DIVIDING ASHES, billed as "A comic calamity," Erica witnesses a homeless immigrant falls through a crack of ice in Central Park on the coldest day of the winter. Two weeks later, she falls into a manhole without a scratch, and it occurs to her that now--at age thirty-three--is the right time for her to decide where her own ashes should be scattered. People alive and imaginary visit her in her seclusion as she journeys through realizing the value of her life, everyone's life and everyone's death.

Chiori Miyagawa (playwright) has been a New Dramatists' resident playwright since 2006.  Her plays have been produced in off-Broadway venues including the Vineyard Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, and the Women's Project; at renowned performance venues in NYC including, P.S. 122, HERE Arts Center, and the Ohio Theatre, and regionally. An anthology of her plays, Thousand Years Waiting And Other Plays is forthcoming from Seagull Books.

Erica Gould (director): Recent directing credits include: the world premiere production of Neil LaBute's autobahn (DC) and the workshop production of autobahn with Bill Pullman; premiere of LaBute's one-acts Stand Up w/ Mos Def and Sound Check,The Minotaur by Anna Ziegler, w/ Mario Cantone, Jill Clayburgh, Campbell Scott; At War: American Playwrights Respond to Iraq w/ David Strathairn, Bebe Neuwirth, Daniel Sunjata, Peter Sarsgaard, What Light From Darkness Grows by Janine Carter, w/ Phylicia Rashad, LisaGay Hamilton, Harry Lennix, the premiere of Max and the Truffle Pig by Bradbeer/Draesel, Leeds; Adopt a Sailor w/ Sam Waterston and Liev Schreiber, and Gould's adaptation of Milorad Pavic's Dictionary of the Khazars, Part 1 (Culture Project, also Williamstown, Yale).

DIVIDING ASHES will be performed at 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton on Hudson, New York.  For more information, visit www.hudsonstage.com or call 914-271-2811.

This project is made possible, in part, by the generous support of the Croton Free Library and a grant from ArtsWestchester.
