The Irvington Stage Door Series has rescheduled their January 12th presentation to Monday, January 26 at 7:30 pm. The series presents new works in a relaxed setting where audience members can give their feedback to the creative team. Next up is an adaptation of the Albert Camus novel THE STRANGER presented by The Seeing Place Theater Ensemble.

After an ordinary man is unwittingly drawn into a senseless murder, he ultimately finds himself convicted of a lack of compassion in this existential treatise on "the nakedness of man faced with the absurd."

The Seeing Place Theater Ensemble has spent three intensive months using improvisation and creative writing exercises to deconstruct Camus' first-person narrative and re-build it into a visceral, eight-person storytelling experience. This process was led by head writer Brandon Walker, with co-writers Erin Cronican, John D'Arcangelo, Virginia Gregory, Meg Grujon, Logan Keeler, Lauren Sagnella and Lila Smith.

"This is our third presentation in the series and all have been very different," says theater manager Greg Allen. "We started with a play written by a single author, then a musical with a writing team behind it and now an adaptation created by an entire theater ensemble. This gives our audiences a real sampling of the different ways in which creative endeavors can be brought to the stage."

The Seeing Place Theater Ensemble is forcefully committed to four key elements of theatre-making: developing actors into thriving self-producers; honoring the craft of the actor's process through rehearsal and into performance; bringing organic, "fully lived" storytelling to our community; and making theater accessible for all New Yorkers by keeping ticket prices low and affordable. www.seeingplacetheater.com

Performing in this reading will be Erin Cronican, John D'Arcangelo, Virginia Gregory, Meg Grujon, Logan Keeler, Lila Smith and Brandon Walker. The play is directed by Erin Cronican, with assistant direction by Lauren Sagnella.

The Irvington Stage Door Series presents readings of new works in a relaxed setting without sets, costumes, or props. This Monday night reading series brings professional artists to Irvington to explore and try out new stage works, offering a unique opportunity for audience members to see what goes into the creation of a new work and to give valuable feedback to the creative team.

The reading series is for adults and high-school-aged kids. It is also a wonderful educational tool for theater, literature, and creative writing students. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at a discounted rate at www.irvingtontheater.com.
