Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's grand homage to the melodramatic Grand Guignol recreations of Victorian England's "Penny Dreadfuls", Sweeney Todd tells the tragic story of a barber seeking revenge at all costs against the men (and the uncaring system) that took his whole world away and left him to rot. Now back in England after 15 years, he teams up with his amoral neighbor Mrs. Lovett to take revenge not only against one man, but all of London.

With a production design aesthetic based in German Expressionistic film but a keen eye to keeping all of the three-dimensional reality of the complex psychology of these deeply flawed characters firmly grounded, this is a production of Sweeney Todd unlike any you've ever seen before.

Performances take place at the RISE Playhouse, 142 Clinton Street in Woonsocket October 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22. Friday and Saturday evening shows start at 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday matinees start at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $16-$20, available online or at the door.
