Arts Alive! to Launch Summer Musical Theatre Intensives for Rhode Island Teens

This summer, Arts Alive! will offer two specialized Musical Theatre Intensives designed for dedicated teen performers looking to strengthen their audition skills, improve performance technique, and gain a competitive edge for lead roles, college auditions, and major musical theatre opportunities.

Open to students entering grades 8 through college freshman year from across Rhode Island, these focused training programs will take place in Barrington and will be led by acclaimed theatre educators and industry professionals Jenna Tremblay-Reilly and Laura Jenkins.

With auditions becoming increasingly competitive for school productions, pre-professional programs, Ocean State Star Awards, the Jimmy Awards, and college musical theatre programs, these intensives are designed to help young performers become stronger, more confident, and more polished artists in both dance and vocal performance.

AUDITION READY: Musical Theatre Dance Intensive

Led by director/choreographer Jenna Tremblay-Reilly, this high-energy dance intensive is designed specifically for musical theatre performers who want to improve technique, performance quality, and audition readiness. Students will focus on musical theatre dance styles commonly seen in auditions and productions while building confidence, storytelling ability, and Stage Presence.

The program is ideal for students preparing for:

  • School and community theatre auditions
  • Ocean State Star Awards
  • College musical theatre programs
  • Summer intensives and pre-professional opportunities
  • Lead and featured roles in productions

The Complete Musical Theatre Singing Audition Intensive

Led by musical director and voice instructor Laura Jenkins alongside Jenna Tremblay-Reilly, this six-week vocal intensive focuses on the complete musical theatre performer through vocal training, acting through song, storytelling, audition preparation, and performance coaching.

Students will develop:

  • Healthy vocal technique and breath support
  • Acting and emotional connection through song
  • Audition confidence and Stage Presence
  • Musicality, tone, and storytelling skills
  • Musical theatre repertoire and audition preparation

Both intensives are intentionally designed as small-group training experiences to allow for individualized coaching and focused instruction.

"These programs are for students who are serious about growing as performers," said Arts Alive! Artistic Director Dena Davis. "Whether a student is preparing for Ocean State Star Awards, college auditions, or simply wants to walk into auditions feeling stronger and more confident, these intensives are designed to help young artists stand out and reach the next level."

Programs will be held at Arts Alive! at St. John's Episcopal Church Hall in Barrington, RI, and are open to teen performers from communities throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

Because enrollment is limited, early registration is strongly encouraged.
