A dark comedy that follows two friends attempting to process their survival of a school shooting.

G3 Productions proudly announces a limited engagement of The Second Best School Shooting, written by Alice Stanley Jr. and directed by Lauren Johansen. The play opens on May 8, 2026 at Electric Lodge, with performances running through May 17, 2026.

(PLEASE NOTE: The 3pm show on Saturday, May 16th will be an understudy performance).

The Second Best School Shooting is the story of Parker and Ava, two high school friends on the precipice of bright, post-graduation futures, who deal with the aftermath of a traumatic event at their school in polar opposite ways. True to their personalities, Parker turns inward while Ava desperately grasps at the fleeting and fickle world of social media to spread her message of urgent activism.

The Second Best School Shooting explores how young people cope with the confusion, anxiety, and grief of what it means to be a student in America through dark humor, the search for connection, and, of course, TikTok. Truly a story of our time, The Second Best School Shooting will resonate with audiences of all ages.

"Funny, surprising, full of heart…you won't want to miss it!" — Kate Micucci, actor and artist

"As a school shooting survivor, you carry emotions that are often too overwhelming, complicated, and isolating to put into words. This play captured those feelings and it gave language to the fear, anger, numbness, and confusion that so many of us live with every day. Watching it felt like being seen, like someone finally understood what’s so hard to explain." —Olivia, school shooting survivor

“Captivating…timely…inspiring.” — Adam McKay, director and screenwriter

The production stars Quinn DeVries and Rachael DeBoer. Written by Alice Stanley Jr. Directed by Lauren Johasen. Produced by Gabrielle Geiger, David Scales, and F. Jason Sheppard. Executive produced by Godfrey Flax, Robert & Ann Johansen, and Emily Volman.
