Come and meet those dancing feet this weekend! The Cultural Arts Playhouse is proud to present the classic Broadway musical 42ND STREET!
Jones and Barry have written the biggest musical Broadway will have seen in 20 years with famed New York Director Julian Marsh at the helm but they encounter one small problem- their star just broke her ankle and is forced out of the show. With only 36 hours until the curtain goes up, the task of learning twenty-five pages, ten dance routines and six songs falls into the lag of newcomer Peggy Sawyer: the bright-eyed, big hearted chorus girl who just arrived to NYC from Allentown, PA. With a little luck, determination, and the “Lullaby of Broadway” behind her, Peggy must face all odds on her way to stardom. This timeless musical will have you tapping your feet and humming the classic tunes that you know and love.
CAP veterans Jessica Schaffer and equity member Nick Masson star in the roles of Peggy Sawyer and Julian Marsh. Other cast members include Jojo Minasi as Peggy’s suitor, Billy Lawler; Jen Demopoulos and Jessa Salerno alternating as the ill-fated diva Dorothy Brock; Alyson Rogers and Mary Ortiz splitting Maggie Jones with Tony Frangipane and Sean Burbige sharing time as Bert Barry- the writers and composers of “Pretty Lady;” and Jeremy Lipton as toe-tapping Andy Lee. The rest of the ensemble is made up of: Frank Ambrosini (Abner Dillon), Pamela Shapiro (Anytime Annie), James Walsh (Pat Denning), Paul Lichtman (Mac), Alyssa Caracciolo (Phyllis), Gina Salvia (Lorraine), Jared Grossman, Veronica Fox, Courtney O’Shea, Adrianna Scheer, Quinn Mei Lysaght, Bari Dershowitz, James Silverstein, Johnny Marx, Alex Dash, Jamie Rosner and Ashley Nicastro (Swing).
Directing the production is CAP's Artistic Director Bruce Grossman. Eliana K Lichtman, CAP's resident choreographer, is “tapped” with staging the shows iconic dance numbers.
