Monkey 2008

About the Album: The 16th century Chinese classic story Xi You Ji (Journey To The West) tells the tale of a little monkey who could transform himself into different creatures and conquer all the obstacles in his life. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett (the minds behind Gorillaz) are Monkey, and have joined with director and choreographer Chen Shi-Zheng to create a 21st century opera retelling this story, replete with new and original music and visuals. The BBC's coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics will utilize some of Monkey's music and animations in the weeks leading up to and during the Olympics.

Review: TITANIC ON ICE: THE MUSICAL! at the The Lift For Life Academy Theater
by James Lindhorst - June 23, 2024

TITANIC ON ICE: THE MUSICAL is a cross between a semi-successful “Saturday Night Live (SNL)” skit and a ridiculous hour-long sketch from the old “Carol Burnett Show.” The script, adapted by Rob McLemore, includes all the memorable pot points from the film, plus every silly joke or sight gag that came to mind. The production had the feel of an improve troupe presenting a concept show based on an idea tossed out from the audience. It is plausible to think that during rehearsals the cast and crew collaborated to continue adding jokes and sight gags.
