Lysistrata: A musical sex comedy, is a brand new musical. Book, lyrics, and music by Chris Tilley uses the original ancient Greek text with the intention of bringing new and fresh content to our community while honoring and learning from the classics. The women of Greece, led by Lysistrata, “come together to do something bigger than themselves.” Specifically, to force the men of Greece to end an ongoing war, and the method they use is a sex strike.Hilarity ensues. The show is a “sex comedy” and contains adult situations and adult humor, but this version is a bit more subtle and less crass than a typical production of Aristophanes’ play. The show is, on one level, a silly, fun romp, but it also speaks to serious issues still important today: war, politics, gender dynamics, and the question of who has a voice in society. Performances Oct 10-13 Curtain: Fri/Sat 7:30pm, Sun 2pm Warning: Adult situations and humor
