William Peace University Theatre to Present MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, 4/1-6
William Peace University, a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, is proud to announce that its Theatre Program is concluding its theatrical season with Sir William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The event is being held from Monday, April 1 to Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Leggett Theatre located in Main Building at 15 East Peace St., and is directed by Wade Newhouse, Ph.D., WPU's Associate Professor of English and Assistant Theatre Director.
Much Ado About Nothing is generally considered one of Shakespeare's best comedies because it combines elements of robust hilarity with more serious meditations on honor, shame, and court politics. The play chronicles two pairs of lovers who have contrasting views of love, and provides delightful wit, humor and compassion for the audience.
Show times run from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the exception of a Matinee show on Saturday, April 5, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets cost $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens, $16 for Alumni, $16 for faculty & staff, and $5 for students and children.
"It's with a mixture of sadness and joy that our Theatre Programs wraps up its year," said Julie Ricciardi, Vice President for Engagement at William Peace University. "It's been a very successful year as our students have put on dozens of outstanding performances, and entertained hundreds of people from across the area. We're sad to see the shows end for the season, but we're energized knowing we have a great line up for next year. Stay tuned for a sneak peak this summer when we officially announce our 2014-2015 season."
