John Arthur Greene & Emily Behny to Lead North Carolina Theatre's Production of GREASE!

By:

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional regional theatre producing Broadway musical revivals, is ready to electrify audiences this February with the world's favorite musical, Grease! Directed by Broadway veteran Hunter Foster, choreographed by his wife, Jennifer Cody, leading the cast of this upcoming production is Raleigh native John Arthur Greene as Danny Zuko and Emily Behny as Sandy Dumbrowski.

Artistic Director Casey Hushion says "We are thrilled to announce this exceptional, dynamic cast. The caliber of Broadway talent in this company and creative team guarantees that this will be a fresh and inspired take on one of the most popular musicals of all time!"

John Arthur Greene was most recently seen on Broadway in the hit musical, Matilda and was also seen as Riff in the most recent Broadway revival of West Side Story. He also played the pirate, Mullins in NBC's 2014 live production of Peter Pan. As a native of the Triangle area, Greene was one of the original students in NC Theatre's Kids on Broadway program, which later became the North Carolina Theatre Conservatory. His previous NC Theatre credits include Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, & A Chorus Line.

Emily Behny (whom I've had the great pleasure of interviewing once) was last seen in the Triangle area as Nessarose in the national tour of Wicked. Her other credits include Belle in the national tour of Beauty & the Beast; Something's Afoot at the Goodspeed Opera House; and Sherrie in Rock of Ages at the Gateway Playhouse.

Joining the cast are Lauren Cipoletti as Rizzo; Michael Warrell as Kenickie; Ryah Nixon as Marty; Lily Tobin as Frenchy; Amy Toporek as Jan; Matthew Rodin as Doody; F. Michael Hayne as Roger; and Casey Shane as Sonny.

The cast also includes Kelsey Walston as Cha-Cha DiGregorio; John T. Wolfe as Eugene Florczyk; Malcolm Armwood as Teen Angel; Carly Prentis Jones as Miss Lynch; Vince Fontaine. Dance Captain Peyton Royal, Kinsland Howell, Randy Coin, and Emily Thomas complete the ensemble.

The rest of the Rydell High student body is comprised of several students from the North Carolina Theatre Conservatory: Leilani Carr, Joseph Gaitens, Carly Grissom, Joshua Keen, Victoria E. Marsh, Ahmad Ratliff, Jack Richardson, and Cady van Venrooy.

The creative team of North Carolina Theatre's production of Grease is led by by Artistic Director Casey Hushion, and Producer Carolee Baxter.

Grease runs at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium from February 9th-14th, 2016!
