Set entirely in cyberspace, "Anno Machina" imagines a future where humanity is dying and sentient machines created by humans to further humanitys needs hold a series of council meetings to figure out what comes next. Can they save us? Can they even agree on how to try? And what does ones legacy look like when your creators are gone? Told through the lens of a single Human Services robot chosen as an Emissary, the play is an innovative meditation on grief, purpose, and connection.Though minimal in cast, the show is highly technical in design, with a blend of lighting, experimental sound, projections, and video into a layered digital environment. The result is a theatrical experience that feels at once deeply human and entirely machine-made.
Chapel Theatre is at 4107 SE Harrison Street, Milwaukie, OR.
