Lakewood Theatre Company Presents CYRANO 1/7-8

By:

The Lost Treasures Collection, a new series of rarely performed musical gems presented in concert/cabaret version on Lakewood Theatre Company's Side Door stage, presents its second offering with the musical Cyrano. Food, wine and other beverages will be available for purchase before and during the show.

The production will be performed for two nights only, Friday, January 7 and Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 7:00 PM. The show is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. No sets, no props (free from the usual trappings of a fully staged production).

Based on Edmond Rostand's classic 1897 play of the same name, Cyrano is a musical with a book and lyrics by Anthony Burgess and music by Michael J. Lewis. The production is directed by Ron Daum and Alan D. Lytle is musical director. Kurt Herman is the production's lighting designer and Kay Vega is the producer.

The Story: Meet Cyrano (Leif Norby), a phenomenal swordsman, born leader and an artistic, intelligent poet with the ability to enchant the hardest of souls... and a nose bigger than can be imagined. Cyrano secretly loves Roxanna (Debbie Hunter) but when she tells him of her interest in the handsome yet inarticulate soldier Christian (Andrew Bray), Cyrano helps the young man woo her by acting as his muse and penning eloquent love letters. Songs include "The Nose Song," "Roxanna," "Bergerac" and "You Have Made Me Love."
The cast also features notable Portland artists Ron Harman, Jolin Milberg, Tim Smith and Gary Norman.

Ticket prices are $18 for all seats. Contact the Lakewood Theatre Box Office at (503) 635-3901 or order online at www.lakewood-center.org Lakewood Theatre Company's Side Door Stage is located in the Community Meeting Room at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.
