Review: QUEEN. BACKYARD TALE. at Wroclaw Mime Theatre

I like open-air art, I like magic and fairy-tale atmosphere. Everything was there and it absorbed me completely.

What would you say to a close (even very close) meeting with art from the backyard, like at your friends' place, so that you could sit in the back of the house to watch the dusk fall and surrender to magic as a bonus? Blankets, lights, a beautifully told story and magic await you. If you would add a cup of hot chocolate, the guests probably would never leave.

The story is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", but only the themes and main plot are taken. Everything else is a creative accessory. This is a show about friendship that pushes to wander and fight. Would you go out into into a cold world full of dangers and adventures in order to save a friend? The colorful and exaggerated characters don't need to say anything, they are remarkably clear and the action is lively and fast. It doesn't mean that there are no words because the atmosphere makes small audience talk and experience the action on an ongoing basis. It seems impossible not to comment on it in gasp of enjoyment.

Pink (love the color) Gerda (Agnieszka Charkot) sets off to meet the Snow Queen (Izabela Czesniewicz) to save Kaj (Agnieszka Dziewa). It seems like a simple story, but thanks to the perfect arrangement, you can indulge in magic completely. It is even difficult to describe what is happening in turn (because a lot is happening), but virtually every scene enlivens the imagination and allows you to feel an unusual atmosphere. The director Artur Borkowski made a piece with music, dance, lights (wow) and fairy-tale characters. There are snowflakes, flowers, a boar, a deer, gold, snowballs, an extremely lively snowman and flying candies. And although it's cold (after all, it's the middle of winter), I highly recommend going on this trip. Children will be delighted, and adults at the end of this path will find their inner child. Maybe this person is particularly worth to be saved during the cold winter?
