Spanning three decades in the entertainment business, Merrily We Roll Along turns back the clock on friendship and the high price of success. The show charts the turbulent relationship between a composer and his two lifelong friends, a writer and lyricist/playwright. An inventive, cult-classic ahead of its time, Merrily We Roll Along features some of Steven Sondheim’s most celebrated and personal songs. Sondheim (music and lyrics) and George Furth (book) expertly blend the excitement and energy of a backstage musical with a poignant and emotional contemporary story about the importance of staying true to one's ideals and is a moving cautionary tale for anyone who has ever pursued a dream.
