Off the Wall to Present Lisa Kron's WELL, 12/13-21
By: Tyler Peterson
Off The Wall Productions, continues the Year and Season of the Female Playwright with Well, Lisa Kron's 2006 Tony Award-nominated autobiographical play. Directed by: Melissa Hill Grande, with: Daina Michelle Griffith as Lisa and Virginia Wall Gruenert as Ann. The ensemble: includes Tony Bingham, Linda Haston, Alan Bomar Jones, Susie McGregor-Laine.
Well is a cheeky, fourth-wall-smashing serio-comedy about the collision of art and life, exploring the dynamics of health, family and community.
With this story of her mother's extraordinary ability to heal a changing neighborhood, despite her inability to heal herself, Kron is left to contemplate the notion that wellness lies in our ability to embrace the complexities and contradictions of life. Well is a surprising and riotously funny play that ultimately acknowledges the heartbreaking challenge of true empathy, even toward those we love the most.
