By:

Shaler Township native John Allen Biles announced today he is producing a new production of Jason Robert Brown's powerful musical "The Last Five Years" this November at the new Off The Wall Theater in Carnegie, Penn.

The production will be the first outside production at Off The Wall's brand new theater space and stars Mr. Biles as Jamie and Pittsburgh-based actress Holly Bryan Scott as Cathy. The production is directed by local director and actor Nick Mitchell. The musical direction duties will be tackled by the pianist Eddie Guttman. Lighting design is by Heather Ankley with set construction by David Friday. Kim Crawford serves as technical director.

The production marks Mr. Biles' theatrical return to Pittsburgh, "After spending over a decade in New York City, I saw many of my talentEd Pittsburgh friends struggling to find an outlet for their craft. I wanted to return to Pittsburgh to give my talented friends exposure and that outlet."

The production runs tonight, November 1 - 3 and 8 - 10 at 7:30 pm. All seats are free of charge, however, there are suggested donations of $20 at the door, cash only. To reserve seats,  email thecompanyofpgh@gmail.com.

Off The Wall Theater is located at 25 W. Main Street, Carnegie, Penn. The theater seats 96 audience members and offers the perfect intimate space for "The Last Five Years."

John graduated from Point Park University in 2000 with a B.F.A. in Theater Arts and promptly moved to New York City. He will be seen as Lewis Morris in the upcoming production of 1776 at the Pittsburgh Public Theater in the winter of 2013. He became a member of Actors' Equity Association in 2000 and has performed off-Broadway, in tours up and down the East Coast and Midwest, and regionally in markets such as Boston, Philadelphia and Valdosta, Georgia. His local credits include performances at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, the Theatre Factory and Pittsburgh Musical Theater. He holds a M.A. in Vocal Performance from New York University. This is his first foray into producing.

Written in 1999 with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, "The Last Five Years" tells the story of the five year relationship between Jamie, an author, and Cathy, an actress. Through Jamie's perspective, the story is told moving forward in time from their first date to getting divorced. However through Cathy's perspective, the story is told going backwards in time from their divorce until their first date.
