Long Live the Queen (a her-story of drag) is a genre-defying cantata created by drag artist, opera singer, and costume designer Cookie Diorio, who also wrote the libretto, with an original score by Philadelphia-based composer Andrea Clearfield. The work blends drag, opera, cabaret, multimedia oratorio, and performance art into a single piece. The April 30 reading is part of Theatre Exile's Studio X-hibition new play development program, which has supported more than 40 new works since 2010, with over half advancing to world premieres. The production is slated for its full premiere in June as part of ArtPhilly.
