15th Annual National Jewish Playwriting Contest Finals at Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History

The Finals of the National Jewish Playwriting Contest come to Philadelphia for the first time, presented by the Jewish Plays Project and the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History. The event combines a TED Talk, play readings, and audience voting, in which Artistic Director David Winitsky speaks on the state of new Jewish drama and 20-minute excerpts from three finalist plays are performed by Philadelphia actors. The three finalist plays are A Play about a Baby Carrot by Juliet Roll, Flatbush Lysistrata by Lila Rachel Becker, and Shura: The Mission of Identifying Life by Roee Joseph. Audiences vote to select the National Winner, whose play will then receive a workshop reading at the Festival of New Jewish Plays in New York in the fall.
