The Actors' NET of Bucks County Presents VERY VAUDEVILLE 8/14-16

The Actors' NET of Bucks County offers a nostalgic and comic trip down memory lane as it stages Very Vaudeville - a salute to the stars of old-time vaudeville. 

Performing Aug. 14 - 16 at the Heritage Center, Very Vaudeville will recreate some of the biggest stars and acts in the history of vaudeville. Written and directed by NET co-founder Joe Doyle, the show features NET performers bringing to life the personas of Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Mae West and W.C. Fields, Will Rogers, Smith and Dale, Judy Garland and many more. 

"We have assembled a dream cast for a dream show," Doyle said. "We are reconstructing some of the most popular comic acts in vaudeville history, along with standout musical performers to sing and dance their way into your hearts. Ed Patton of Fairless Hills does triple duty as Bud Abbott, Stan Laurel and Will Rogers. Dennis McGuire steps up as Oliver Hardy and W.C. Fields. Matt South of Levittown depicts Lou Costello. Susan Fowler of Newtown vamps as Mae West. Sarah Webster of Morrisville hits the stage as Judy Garland. Janice McEwen of Lawrenceville, NJ portrays Ethel Waters and Vince Pileggi of Southampton and Mort Paterson of Philadelphia recreate an hilarious sketch by Smith and Dale." 

"Vaudeville may be dead, but Aug. 14 - 16, we're reviving it," Doyle said. "The show will present star turns from throughout the vaudeville era, most notably the ‘20s through ‘40s And for this weekend, our stage becomes The Palace Theatre - where all the best acts played. Not only will we have singers, dancers and comics galore, we'll even feature juggler-magician Todd Reichart of Princeton offering the kind of entertainment rarely seen since Ed Sullivan went off the air." 

"Who else might you see on our stage this show?" Doyle asked, and then answered.

"Shirley Temple, Bert Williams, Alice Faye, Grace Hayes and even my wife Cheryl as ‘the Last
of the Red Hot Mommas,' Sophie Tucker!"

"This will be a tough show to follow," he observed. "But follow it we will with an Aug. 21 - 23 staging of what we're calling Modern Vaudeville, as we attempt to show what vaudeville might look like today if it hadn't died. It will be an all-new show, with a sharper edge." 

Very Vaudeville performs at the air conditioned Heritage Center, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue (Route 32), Morrisville - near the Calhoun Street Bridge.
