Neil Nathan Opens for Slo-Mo, at Philadelphia Film and Music Fest 9/25

If you've seen any of Neil Nathan's music videos ("California Run", which guest-stars Rosario Dawson and "When the Rain Falls" are his latest), it will come as no surprise to you that he's taking part in the Philadelphia Film and Music Festival, which prides itself on combining music and film elements rather than segregating them. Nathan will be opening for his friend and producer of his Songsmiths EP, Mike Slo-Mo Brenner on Saturday, September 25th at the North Star Bar. Songsmiths was recorded at 1935 Studio by Pete Rydberg and Paul Smith. Pete produced Marah's Kids In Philly. The record includes Neil's folky cover of ELO's Do Ya which was featured on the Californication Soundtrack. Neil also covered Chris Malcarney's country crooner, Mia. Chris plays with Philly Power Poppers, The Donuts, as well as the Philadelphia Ukulele Orchestra. Both Chris and Slo-Mo will be joining Neil on stage at the North Star bar for a special guest spot.

Neil Nathan's debut LP, The Distance Calls, was just released. It was produced by The Go's Bobby Harlow and combines the talents of Dean Fertita (The Dead Weather, QOTSA), Kenny Tudrick and Joey Mazzola (Detroit Cobras), John Krautner (The Go), and Ross Westerbur (Deadstring Brothers). The album effortlessly merges jangly pop rock with Nathan's mellower singer/songwriter side. The lead single, California Run, the video for which stars Rosario Dawson, will be featured on ESPN's Sportscenter the week of the festival.
